Minor surgeryMINOR SURGERY

Lumps, skin problems, infections and wounds treated at the clinic, mostly under local anaesthetic. Times are estimates for the procedure itself. Tap any treatment for details.

Lumps & growths

Cysts & lipomaLumps under the skin A lump under the skin that is growing, bothersome, smelly or keeps getting swollen Anaesthesia: LocalTime: ±20–45 min

What it is

The lump is removed through a small cut. For cysts, the doctor aims to take out the whole cyst with its capsule, which lowers the chance of it coming back. Tissue can be sent to the lab for testing if needed.

Afterwards

  • Go home the same day
  • Keep the wound clean and dry
  • Follow-up visit for stitch removal
Mole removalMoles and skin spots A mole or skin spot that is changing size or colour, catches on clothes, or bothers you cosmetically Anaesthesia: LocalTime: ±20–30 min

What it is

The mole is removed whole and the skin closed with fine stitches. The tissue can be sent to the lab to rule out skin cancer.

Afterwards

  • Go home the same day
  • Keep the wound clean and dry
  • Follow-up for stitch removal and the lab result
GanglionLump at the wrist or hand A soft, fluid-filled lump at the wrist, hand or foot, sometimes painful Anaesthesia: LocalTime: ±20–40 min

What it is

The fluid can be drawn out with a needle, or the ganglion removed completely with a small operation if it keeps coming back or gets in the way.

Afterwards

  • Go home the same day
  • Keep it bandaged and rest the joint for a few days
  • Follow-up to check the wound

Skin

Skin tagSmall hanging skin growths Small hanging skin growths on the neck, armpits, eyelids or groin Anaesthesia: LocalTime: ±10–20 min

What it is

Skin tags are snipped off or removed with electrocautery. Several can be done in one session.

Afterwards

  • The small wounds usually heal in 1–2 weeks
  • Apply ointment as directed
  • Avoid scratching or picking
Wart removalCommon and plantar warts Warts on the hands, feet or face that won't go away or keep spreading Anaesthesia: LocalTime: ±10–20 min

What it is

Warts are removed with electrocautery or another suitable method. Stubborn or multiple warts may need more than one session.

Afterwards

  • The wound dries within 1–2 weeks
  • Don't pick the scab
  • Come back if the wart regrows
KeloidRaised scars · injection or removal A raised, itchy scar that grows beyond the original wound, for example after a piercing or surgery Anaesthesia: LocalTime: ±15–30 min

What it is

Steroid injected directly into the keloid softens and flattens it, usually over several sessions 4–6 weeks apart. Large keloids can be removed and followed by injections to lower the chance of regrowth.

Afterwards

  • Go home straight after the injection
  • Keep to the injection schedule
  • Follow-up to review progress

Eyes, face & ears

ChalazionEyelid lump An eyelid lump that has not gone away after weeks of warm compresses Anaesthesia: LocalTime: ±20 min

What it is

The blocked oil gland is opened and cleaned out from the inside of the eyelid, so there is usually no visible scar.

Afterwards

  • The eye may be covered with a pad for a few hours
  • Eye drops or ointment as the doctor directs
  • Mild bruising usually settles within a few days
XanthelasmaYellow patches on the eyelids Flat or slightly raised yellowish patches around the eyelids Anaesthesia: LocalTime: ±30 min

What it is

The patch is removed and the skin closed with fine stitches. Xanthelasma is sometimes linked to cholesterol levels, so the doctor may suggest a blood test as well.

Afterwards

  • Go home the same day
  • Apply ointment as directed
  • Follow-up visit for stitch removal
Earlobe repairTorn or stretched earlobes A torn earlobe or an over-stretched piercing hole Anaesthesia: LocalTime: ±30–45 min

What it is

The edges of the tear are trimmed and the lobe stitched back together. The ear can be re-pierced once fully healed.

Afterwards

  • Go home the same day
  • Keep the wound clean and dry
  • Stitches out after about a week

Infections, wounds & more

Abscess / boilIncision & drainage A red, hot, painful swelling filled with pus Anaesthesia: LocalTime: ±15–30 min

What it is

The abscess is opened, the pus drained, and the cavity cleaned and dressed. It can be done at any hour since the clinic is open 24 hours.

Afterwards

  • Clean and change the dressing as scheduled
  • Antibiotics if needed
  • Follow-up until the wound heals
Wound stitching & foreign bodiesLaceration repair Open cuts that need stitches, or splinters, thorns or glass stuck in the skin Anaesthesia: LocalTime: ±15–45 min

What it is

The wound is cleaned, checked and stitched. Foreign bodies are removed and the wound washed to prevent infection. A tetanus shot is given if needed.

Afterwards

  • Keep the wound dry for the first 24–48 hours
  • Stitches out after 5–14 days, depending on the site
  • Come back if it turns red or swollen
Ingrown toenailKuku cengkam A toenail edge digging into the skin, painful, swollen or infected, including cases that keep coming back after earlier treatment Anaesthesia: LocalTime: ±30–60 min

Treatment options

  • Partial nail avulsionOnly the ingrown edge of the nail is removed (wedge resection).
  • Total nail avulsionThe whole nail is removed when both edges are involved or the infection is severe. A new nail grows back over a few months.

For recurring cases

  • WinogradThe nail edge is removed with its root and the skin fold on that side, so that edge does not grow in again.
  • SpiculectomyA leftover spike of nail (spicule) growing into the skin is removed together with its root.
  • VandenbosExcess soft tissue around the nail is removed so the nail grows freely without pressing on the skin. The nail itself is kept.
  • ZadekThe whole nail root is removed (total matrixectomy) so the nail does not grow back, for severe recurring cases.

Afterwards

  • Go home the same day
  • Wear sandals or loose shoes for a few days
  • Change the dressing as directed
  • Follow-up to check the wound and any stitches

The doctor chooses the method based on the nail, how often it has come back and any treatment you have had before.

Tongue-tie releaseFrenotomy Babies who struggle to feed, or children whose tongue is tied to the floor of the mouth Anaesthesia: Local if neededTime: ±10 min

What it is

The thin band under the tongue (frenulum) is snipped so the tongue can move freely. In young babies it is very quick and the baby can feed straight afterwards.

Afterwards

  • Go home straight afterwards
  • Tongue exercises if advised
  • Follow-up to check feeding or speech
GynecomastiaEnlarged male breast tissue Enlarged breast tissue in men that does not go away and makes you uncomfortable Anaesthesia: LocalTime: After assessment

What it is

Excess glandular tissue is removed through a small cut. The doctor checks the cause and size first, because some cases are linked to medicines or hormones and need a different treatment.

Afterwards

  • Wear a compression vest as advised
  • Avoid heavy activity for a few weeks
  • Follow-up visit to check the wound

MethodHow it worksWound closureUsually for
ConventionalDorsal slit The foreskin is opened with a dorsal slit, trimmed precisely and stitched. Dissolvable stitches All ages
Clamp A plastic clamp guides an even cut and stays on for a few days while the wound seals. It is removed at a follow-up visit. Usually no stitches Children & adults
Laser / electrocauteryMonopolar An electrocautery device (commonly called "laser") cuts the foreskin and stops bleeding at the same time. Dissolvable stitches Children & adults
Bipolar diathermyPrecise bleeding control Current flows only between the two tips of the forceps, so small blood vessels are sealed precisely and heat does not spread far into the surrounding tissue. Dissolvable stitches All ages
Ring A plastic ring is fitted under the foreskin. The excess skin dries and falls off with the ring in about 7 to 10 days. No stitches Babies & young children
Stapler A single-use stapler device cuts and closes the wound in one step. Fine staples that fall off as it heals Teens & adults

MSK injections & surgeryJOINTS · MUSCLES · TENDONS

For joint, tendon and nerve pain that hasn't settled with ordinary medicine. The doctor examines you first and explains whether an injection, a small operation or exercises suit you best.

Trigger fingerLocking finger A finger that catches, clicks or hurts at its base when you bend and straighten it Treatment: Injection or releaseTime: ±15–20 min

Treatment options

Early cases often settle with an injection into the tendon sheath. If the finger still locks, a small cut in the palm under local anaesthetic releases the tight sheath (trigger finger release).

Afterwards

  • Go home the same day
  • Move the finger gently as shown
  • Follow-up visit for a check or stitch removal
Carpal tunnelNumb hand Numbness or tingling from the thumb to the ring finger, worse at night, with a weaker grip Treatment: Injection or releaseTime: ±15–30 min

Treatment options

Mild cases can be treated with a wrist splint and an injection. If the numbness persists or the hand gets weaker, the ligament at the wrist is divided under local anaesthetic to take pressure off the nerve (carpal tunnel release).

Afterwards

  • Go home the same day
  • Keep the hand raised above heart level to reduce swelling
  • Follow-up visit for wound care and stitch removal
Frozen shoulderStiff, painful shoulder A painful, stiff shoulder that makes it hard to raise your arm, comb your hair or dress Treatment: Shoulder injectionTime: ±15 min

Treatment options

An injection into the shoulder joint eases the inflammation and pain so you can start the exercises that free up the shoulder. The doctor also checks for other causes such as a tendon injury.

Afterwards

  • Go home straight after the injection
  • Start the stretching exercises you are shown
  • Follow-up to check your shoulder movement
Knee painOsteoarthritis A knee that aches, swells or creaks, and makes stairs or standing up hard Treatment: Knee injectionTime: ±15 min

Treatment options

Medicine is injected directly into the knee joint to ease pain and inflammation. The doctor explains which type of injection suits your knee, along with exercises to strengthen the thigh muscles.

Afterwards

  • Go home straight after the injection
  • Rest the knee for one to two days
  • Follow-up to review progress and exercises
Plantar fasciitisHeel pain Pain under the heel, worst with the first steps in the morning Treatment: Heel injectionTime: ±15 min

Treatment options

An injection at the heel calms the inflamed tissue under the foot. It is combined with calf and foot stretches and advice on suitable footwear.

Afterwards

  • Walk home after the injection
  • Avoid long periods of standing for a few days
  • Keep up the stretches every morning

Another joint or muscle problem? An elbow, wrist or hip, for example. WhatsApp us and describe it, and the doctor will tell you whether it can be treated at the clinic.

Common questions

Before you come in

Do I need an appointment?

Not for general care: walk in at any hour. For a procedure, it helps to WhatsApp us first so we can set aside the time and the right doctor. You can also book online.

Does the procedure hurt?

The area is numbed with local anaesthetic, so you feel the needle only at the start. During the procedure you may feel pressure or tugging but not pain. Painkillers are given to take home.

Can I have the procedure on the day I come in?

In many cases yes, once the doctor has examined you and you agree. Some cases need tests or extra preparation first, and the doctor will tell you.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the type, size and location of the problem. The doctor gives you an estimate after the examination and before the procedure starts. You can WhatsApp a photo for an initial enquiry.

Will I need time off work?

Most patients are back to light activity within a day or two. The doctor will issue a medical certificate (MC) if needed, depending on the procedure and your job.

What if my lump needs hospital treatment?

If the examination shows your problem is better treated in hospital, the doctor will explain why and write you a referral letter.
